The Learning Community Project Work Plan (2007-2010)

Consultation with 600 people and 40 employers each year. Develop new consultation postcard, form, interactive form and produce full consultation report produced and distributed to the full partnership of providers through the Severn Vale Partnership for Learning.

Learner Forum – initial event to raise awareness of and set up a Learner Forum in Cam and Dursley. Support a group of 40 learners to run their own learner forum with dissemination events each year to 100 partner organisations, training for learners to develop the forum, formal agreement made between the learner forum and strategic groups. Provide training for new forum members each year and continue to link forum to providers and strategic partners, support with funding and training for the 3 years of the project. Development of a peer support programme for learner forum members, help over 1000 learners stay engaged in training through learner forum / volunteer support.

Community Groups – Run 5 programmes to engage 100 local people to get involved in setting up their own community groups (recognised community projects - like GL11 and LKMC have been set up). Support 12 community groups to have increased participation from local people – 5 of these must be set up as new community groups as above. Provide training for these groups through working with GAVCA, Volunteer Centre etc – training on how to be a member of a management committee, what structure should your organisation be, making your idea into a project etc.

Events – run a series of taster activities involving 2000 local people at 7 separate events each year of the project.

Membership – Get 10 more local employers to offer membership incentives, publise incentives and re-launch the membership scheme. Ensure every learner is made a member of TLC (6000 in total over the 3 years of the project).

Health – Set up 10 new learning programmes each year with at least 10 participants on each programme being referred through doctors surgeries or health care professionals. Bring 6 new delivery partners on board to offer therapeutic learning.

Learning Programme – Support all courses of learning (through promoting all courses, recruiting learning, organising progression opportunities, working in partnership with Next Steps and college and other providers etc. ) happening in the GL11 area so that over 1800 learners will have increased employability skills. Work with 8 new employers on a one to one basis to develop specific packages of learning targeted at people with little or bad learning experiences in the past.

PR – Develop a full and comprehensive PR campaign through working with the learner forum, local employers and delivery partners. Develop the website to ensure a further 6000 hits are achieved by the end of the project and 8 newsletters produced.

Management of Information – Develop the registration, register , feedback and membership forms and ensure that every learner, volunteer, member etc completes for each activity they are engaged in. Do 20 Case studies of learners, learner forum members and potential learners each year. Do a further 20 case studies for learners from health projects and get GP feedback and baseline data from surgeries to back up difference made.
